The two approaches that are likely to succeed are cloning and gene therapy. Key genes in the follicles have already been identified that cause dysfunctional growth when they mutate. There are a number of diseases that cause baldness that involve some sort of genetic phenomenon. Biologists are focused on correcting the genetic errors that cause the problem. Cloning is the process of growing new follicles from stem cells. These cells are collected from a donor and supported in a lab until they multiply.
