The fifth season of "Glee" will premiere a week later than originally planned in light of the sudden death of star Cory Monteith, Fox announced Friday. The show will return to the network's line-up on Sept. 26 instead of Sept. 19.

Production on the show was due to start next week but will now begin in early August. Monteith played Finn Hudson, the star quarterback who was set to become the leader of the glee club, New Directions.

Monteith, 31, died on July 13 in a Vancouver hotel room from a heroin and alcohol overdose.

The actor worked with several charitable organizations. In honor of his passing, a Fox press release said, three groups -- Project Limelight Society, Virgin Unite, and Chrysalis -- will be accepting donations in his name:

The actor who grew up in Victoria, British Columbia, struggled since he was a child with drug addiction and spoke openly about his struggles. He had checked himself into rehab earlier this year.
