Arthritis

Arthritis can be a symptom of gonorrhea. The disease may spread up to the joints, may lead to inflammation in the area and thus, can cause gonorrheal arthritis.

Ulcer formation is also a symptom of sexually transmitted diseases in the case of syphilis. Syphilis is caused due to bacterium spirochete. The disease progresses in three stages. The first stage involves the formation of ulcers on the vagina of an infected woman, on the scrotum of an infected male or in mouth that can occur merely due to kissing.

Vaginal discharge

A kind of greenish, yellow, clear or white vaginal discharge may occur as a result of a type of sexually transmitted infection known as trichomoniasis, which typically infects the vagina. Moreover, trichomoniasis also causes vaginal itching and painful urination. In men, the disease may cause unusual discharge from the penis and irritation or itching of the penis.

This is a symptom of a sexually transmitted disease which is caused due to pubic lice, also known as catch crabs.

Genital Warts

Genital warts are caused by Human papilloma virus (HPV). The warts can appear anywhere on the skin near the genitals. Warts on the cervix may cause vaginal discharge and slight bleeding.

HIV Symptoms

HIV is more a lethal type of STD which is becoming common with time. AIDS may show up no symptoms. However, some infected people exhibit flu-like symptoms during the initial stages. These symptoms include fatigue, fever, headache, sore throat and swollen lymph nodes. Such symptoms are often mistaken with viral infections. Symptoms such as diarrhea, weight loss, cough and shortness of breath may be shown up too.

Chlamydia Symptoms

It is known that about 70 to 75 percent of the cases of STD due to chlamydia infection go unnoticed, that is, asymptomatic. However, the onset of symptoms in other cases of the infection is after three weeks of exposure to the bacteria.

The signs and symptoms of chlamydia infection include vaginal discharge in women which occurs due to inflamed cervix, pain during intercourse, bleeding after sex, a white cloudy and watery discharge from the penis may occur in the case of infection in men, and many such symptoms.

STD May Be Asymptomatic

Yes, it is true. STD may go unnoticed for quite a long period of time, that is, it does not exhibit any symptom. It happens quite often. A medical check-up for STI screening on a regular basis can help in avoiding the spread of infection through its early detection. Also, use of protections such as condoms during sex, can prevent STD.
