MorningFile: Sunshine, golf courses for parks, and the God particle does exist! (probably)

For realz?

Park board commissioner Aaron Jasper has drafted a motion that asks the Vancouver park board to take a close look at the cost of city-owned golf courses and whether the Langara Golf Course on Cambie Street could be converted into a park. Jordan Bateman with the Canadian Taxpayers Federation says a better idea is to develop the land. "If you even developed half of one of those courses, you?d probably generate enough revenue to hold taxes in line for probably another two or three years, or you could use that money for other infrastructure, things that people actually need and expect municipalities to provide," Bateman told CBC News Tuesday.
Existence spoiler alert: Researchers announce evidence of 'God particle' that explains universe.
Casserole leftovers: Protesters sympathetic to the Quebec student protest movement are vowing to return to the Vancouver Art Gallery for another noisy march on downtown streets Wednesday night after the last two demonstrations resulted in arrests, reports the Vancouver Courier.
Sentenced to suburbia: A man who pleaded guilty to looting cosmetics from the downtown Vancouver Sears store during the 2011 Stanley Cup riot has avoided jail, but will have to serve a five-month conditional sentence, which includes three months of 24-hour house arrest at his parents? home in Coquitlam. The 25-year-old man is also banned from going into Vancouver except for work and medical emergencies.
The provincial government may have a tough time painting striking members of the B.C. Government and Employees? Service Union as inflexible bad guys in their current bargaining stalemate, Rod Mickleburgh writes for the Globe and Mail. BCGEU president Darryl Walker sounds downright reasonable.
